What to Engrave on Your Pet’s Collar

What to Engrave on Your Pet’s Collar

Choosing a collar is the fun part: finding a colour, fabric and finish that suits your pet. Deciding what to engrave on it is just as important.

With limited space on a buckle, a simple combination works well: your pet’s name and your mobile number. It adds a personal touch while giving someone who finds your pet a clear way to contact you.

Here’s how to choose your engraving and check everything before ordering.

Start with your pet’s name

Your pet’s everyday name is a natural choice for the first line. Choose the name you normally call them, particularly if their full name is much longer.

At Nyx Pet & Co, names are engraved in CAPITAL LETTERS, and the name field allows up to 10 characters.

Names such as WINSTON, LUNA and CHARLIE fit comfortably within that limit. For a longer name, choose a shorter version or familiar nickname that fits.

Remember that spaces and punctuation count towards the character limit too.

Add a mobile number you regularly use

The second line is a useful place for your mobile number. Choose the number you are most likely to answer, and check that every digit is correct.

Our mobile number field allows up to 10 characters. For an Australian mobile number, enter all 10 digits without spaces.

For example, your engraving could look like this:

WINSTON
0412345678

Or:

LUNA
0412345678

These numbers are examples only. Enter your own mobile number when ordering.

A decorative phrase can be sweet, but when space is limited, contact information is the most useful detail to prioritise.

Keep the engraving simple

It can be tempting to include a surname, address, second phone number or a playful message. Our two-line format is designed to keep your pet’s name and your contact number easy to read.

For your Nyx Pet & Co collar, use:

  • Line 1: Your pet’s name, up to 10 characters.
  • Line 2: Your mobile number, up to 10 characters.

There’s no need to add “Call” before the number—it uses space that you need for the digits.

Check these details before ordering

Take a moment to review your engraving before adding the collar to your cart:

  • Spelling: Is your pet’s name entered correctly?
  • Phone number: Have you included every digit in the right order?
  • Length: Does each line fit within the 10-character limit?
  • Spacing: Have you entered your mobile number without spaces?
  • Size: Have you checked your pet’s measurements against our Sizing Guide?

If you spot an engraving mistake after ordering, contact us within 2 days of placing your order, including your order number and the correct details. After this time, engraving changes cannot be made.

Choose a collar that suits your pet

Once you’ve decided on the engraving, you can choose the collar’s style and hardware.

Explore our personalised dog collars and personalised cat collars, with velvet, fluffy and patterned designs to suit different looks. Check each product page for the available buckle and hardware options.

Select “Add Personalised Engraving” on your chosen product, enter your pet’s name and mobile number, and check the details before adding it to your cart.
